| Top Three Priorities; Jobs, Jobs and Jobs. |

What is a Job? Let’s ask ourselves what is a job and what does it mean to Americans to have one. A job must be a fair and honest trade! Your skills and your labor, your talent and your time, in exchange for compensation that you can use to support yourself and improve your life and that of your family. But a job is more than that. It is your pride at making your own way. It is showing your children that hard work is not to be feared. It is the satisfaction of a task well done. Americans have always had a desire to depend on themselves and make their own way in life. Americans don’t like asking others to do what they can do for themselves. When you are out of work, it hurts to see your neighbor go off to his or her job, to see them make an honest living when you have lost the means to do so for yourself. It hurts to be a valuable human being with contributions to make but no place to make them. It hurts to see your savings draining down, the savings you spent years accumulating. And most of all, it hurts to ask someone to take care of you when you cannot take care of yourself. Unemployment steals your wealth, your pride, your confidence, and your pursuit of happiness. It steals your ability to pay taxes that support our schools, our roads, our police and fire departments, the disabled, and even the thin paychecks of our military men and women who ask so little and give until they have nothing left. We just spent a trillion dollars. And we were told that this would somehow buy us an unemployment rate that would not go beyond 8%. That would have been enough money to have a total tax holiday…no one in the US pays a penny in taxes…for two years. Do you think that would have stimulated the economy? But there is no power in letting people keep their own money, is there? No, you give it to the government and then you have to meet their conditions to get some of your own money back…as if the government made the money themselves and were gracious enough to share it with you. Instead of jobs, we got brand new terms that no one ever heard of before. A “jobless recovery.” Can someone tell me what a jobless recovery is? Then we heard about jobs that were not created, but saved…a measurement never before used by economists because it cannot be calculated! And to add insult to injury, even these fictional “saved jobs…” were soon found to be in fictional congressional districts! Under the free market system that made America the world’s mightiest creator of wealth in human history, the government’s role was protect the individuals rights. But under socialism, the government controls the companies. Is it the fault of the millionaires in America? Let me share a statistic that Mr. Obama will never tell you. Most of the millionaires in America are self made. Apple Corporation was born in a garage by two guys who were dead broke. Microsoft was born with Bill Gates writing simple programs in his parent’s basement! And as entrepreneurs like these became successful, they created (not “saved,” by the way) but created millions upon millions of new jobs. And everyone who had one of those jobs bought houses and cars and groceries and plumbing services and lawn mowers and Christmas gifts and power tools and donuts and went out to eat, and on and on… And in turn someone had a job and pride at selling these working people services and goods, and the plumber was able to buy new tools at Home Depot, and the grocer was able to hire butchers to sell the steaks the restaurants used to give to the waiters and the cooks to serve…and on and on. America is the only country in the world, and I invite you to research this on your own, where virtually everyone of wealth did not start out with wealth. Capitalism has been the greatest engine of job creation in human history. Remember in a free market system, if you are dealing with a company and you are not happy you can shop elsewhere. If you are dealing with a government program, if you don’t like how the government treats you, there is no other choice. Is this the new America? Someday maybe we can even be as happy as they are in France, where they burn cars every year in riots apparently motivated by the joys of socialism and unemployment is so high they literally made a law to shorten the work week so everyone would have to hire more employees. Amazingly, producing less did not work out so well and unemployment is higher than ever. Or maybe we can be like Greece, the nation that tried to spend its way out of recession, and is now bankrupt. An entire nation bankrupt due to the brilliance of socialism…and they act as if they are surprised! The next to fall will be Italy. The European Union is going bankrupt nation by nation, in order of how much each nation chose to entrust their future to socialism! But hey, no one is more miserable than anyone else, so I guess it is all good over in Europe. As your reresentative in Washington, I will work tirelessly to generate good jobs by: 1. Being on the side of small business cutting regulations so people can create their dreams. 2. Cutting taxes so businesses can expand and hire more people. 3. Cut spending, our Constitution severely limited government to keep us out of the mess we are in. 4. End all corporate welfare and subsidies. 5. Repealing and stopping any further government bailouts. I will be working on jobs, jobs, and jobs. No date nights, no flying overseas to accept the applause of Europeans, no closed door negations where the pork is served up and he people are shut out, and no beer summits. JOBS! Since the birth of this nation, no one ever fought for the right to be ruled over by government. John Adams, our second president, wrote that “You [who will come after us] will never know the sacrifices we made for your freedom.” In this case I disagree with one of the founding fathers. I know Americans DO covet their freedom. I know Americans do NOT want big government. And they know the difference between a representative that is honored to serve, and a one that thinks it is your honor to be served. Americans want freedom to follow their dreams and provide for their families. Not some government program to pay their rent. |
